Perhaps I was born in the wrong generation of love. Today is a generation that requires speed and efficiency. Everything should be and could be done in the fastest way possible which is why technology was required to bring productivity at higher levels with the minimum amount of effort inputted. It has greatly changed the lives of today. And even the landscape of love and dating. But dinner dates from decades ago weren't merely ordered from an application in your iPhone. It required effort, courage, determination and hardwork. And this is what makes vintage dating truly heartwarming and nostalgic: because it allowed love to blossom slowly, without the pressure of speed, and it encourages investment from both parties. Vintage dating requires effort in courtship. It's beautiful because dates are planned ahead of time and they don't consist of "You up?" text messages at twelve midnight. Men ask women out days in advance and they plan for an amazingly low-key movie date plus a trip to an ice cream parlor downtown. Vintage dating requires males to be true gentlemen. It's an unstated rule to pick up a woman on her doorstep, carrying flowers and chocolates on the first date. And to drive for her means to also open car doors for her which secretly makes her heart melt. It's beautiful because dates are planned ahead of time and they don't consist of 'You up?' text messages at twelve midnight. Vintage dating has no messed up dating rules which technology of today has embedded in our minds. Both parties don't have to wait for another hour or so to reply to avoid looking too eager. Vintage dating just simply knows how to appreciate each other. There is no keeping tabs on who is more drawn into the other. There is no overthinking, simply understanding. Vintage dating and love knows fixing. When something is broken, it is deemed fixable and reparable through honesty and communication. Rather than swiping right to your next option, vintage dating knows that no one is perfect and love means accepting a person fully with both his amazing qualities and his flaws. It may take time but love is understood to need time to blossom.
